Taiwan Oriental Beauty, or 东方美人, is a unique, high-quality bug-bitten oolong tea that is grown in the high mountains of Taiwan. This unique tea is mainly made in the summer when a small green leafhopper, the Jacobiasca formosana appears and feeds on the tea plants and gives the tea that renowned honey fragrance. The tea got its name, Oriental Beauty, from Queen Elizabeth II when she was impressed by the aroma and colour of the tea back in the 20th century.  
 
Many quality Oriental Beauty is only sold within Taiwan because of its rarity, but our producer managed to save some for us, and we are happy to share it with you here! Its leaves are carefully hand-picked and sun-dried to create a beautiful and fragrant cup of tea with a light golden-orange color. Since this is a 2+ year aged tea, the flavor is complex and herbaceous sweet, with notes of honey and stone fruit. Its light, delicate aroma will make it a great addition to any tea collection.
